Jerome Challenge 4 This was a challenge I did with some quilting friends while attending a kaleidoscope show in Jerome AZ in 2006. Who ever took the challenge had to make a quilt using the fabrics that Leigh Hay Martin, Randy and I choose for this challenge. Randy wanted to shake things up a bit so he selected a blue floral print that we had to build from. Leigh and I selected the greens, blues, and raspberry colors to go along with Randy’s floral. Part of the challenge is that you could use up to 2 additional fabrics of your choice and you had one year to complete the quilt. We would then come back a year later in October 2007 and share our finished quilts with each other. This is the end result of that challenge. I choose to use light blue as one of my additional fabric. My inspiration for the quilt came from a pattern I saw in American Patchwork & Quilting, issue April 2001, called Sunny Lanes. I used my second fabric as the outer border to complete my quilt. After finishing the top I just had fun with the quilting by putting an original free formed pattern all over the body of the quilt and some complementary free formed quilting in the borders. I really love how this quilt turned out. This quilt was made in 2007 and is 94" by 94".
